Exciting climate event to kick off 2025!
Happy new year everyone! I hope you’ve had a great start to 2025.
If we haven’t met yet, my name is Danielle. I moved to the Bay Area (and the US!) in 2016 when I began undergrad at Stanford, have worked in climate for the last 5 years, and started Climate Action Club last year as a way to build community with other passionate and motivated changemakers like you seeking to make a difference in the fight against climate change.
I am so excited for the community building we’re about to embark on this year; our first vision meeting on the 11th was spectacular, and I’m looking forward to sharing updates on the direction of this community following our second one on the 26th.
Until then, I wanted to invite you to join us next Thursday evening (Jan 30) in downtown SF for a very special event. Auden Schendler, 30-year corporate sustainability veteran and climate activist (a very rare combo) released a book in November and is coming to SF to talk to our community about the failures of the environmental movement, the pervasiveness of corporate greenwashing, and the solutions we can (and must) deploy as individuals and businesses to influence social norms, policymaking, and more. The book (Terrible Beauty) is fantastic; not only is it a fun read but he’s incredibly honest about the failures the climate community (especially business) has made in addressing climate change at the speed and scale that the crisis demands. There are definitely some hot takes that will spark some much needed conversation amongst the Bay Area climate community, followed by solutions and how we can move forward.
This is an event you definitely don’t want to miss; I’m incredibly excited for this and I hope to see you all there. Register here!
Until next time :)
Danielle
