We're hosting our first dinner party!
If we’re anything alike, you may find yourself feeling disheartened and helpless when reading the news coming from DC - news about Trump obstructing renewable energy development, bringing back plastic straws, ending federal environmental justice programs, and many other attempts to sabotage climate action.
Our precarious political environment has made me think more than ever about my theory of change for climate action - like why I find myself feeling more skeptical of technological innovation as a climate fix than ever before, why I find the shift in public sentiment around climate to be so problematic, and what impact this community can make in light of all of this.
This last point around impact is what I’m particularly keen on exploring with this community, given our shared penchant for purposeful action. Which is where this dinner party comes in.
Why focus on our Theories of Change?
Our theories of change—the frameworks we use to understand how our actions lead to desired outcomes—immensely affect the steps we take in addressing climate change. They shape our perception of what must happen, where we can affect change, and how we should move forward. By reflecting on and discussing these theories, we can:
Recognize our agency in the climate crisis
Learn from each other's experiences and challenge our assumptions
Determine the most impactful actions to take
Align our efforts with our values and goals
Informing a collective Theory of Change
This dinner is more than just another networking event. It's an opportunity to contribute to a community-wide understanding of effective climate action. By sharing our individual theories of change, we can:
Build a more comprehensive and nuanced collective theory
Identify gaps in our current approaches
Inspire new, innovative strategies for climate action
Join Us in Shaping the Future
If you're a young person grappling with eco-anxiety and seeking ways to maximize your impact, this dinner is for you. Come ready to share your theory of change, learn from others, and be part of shaping a collective roadmap for meaningful climate action.
Register for the dinner party here; we’ll be having some delicious mediterranean food (vegan friendly) and insightful conversations alongside the best company. I can’t wait to see you there!
